PROJECT ENGINEER - AUXILIARY MECHANICAL SYSTEMS

 

YOUR ROLE    

The Project Engineer coordinates and participates in the design of auxiliary mechanical systems (Balance of Plant Mechanical) associated with turbine and generator sets. The candidate must be a self-starter with interpersonal and communication skills that will allow him/her to interact effectively with other business units in order to find the most appropriate solutions. The candidate will be rigorous and organized and will be recognized for his or her technical skills and ability to prepare technical documents.

 

YOUR TASKS 

- Execute contract reviews to validate the concordance between the requirements of the specifications, the estimate made during the preparation of the bid and the final scope of work;

- Technical and economic validation of the concepts retained in the final configuration of the auxiliary systems;

- Design of mechanical auxiliary systems associated with hydroelectric generating units such as pumping units, oil injection systems, braking systems, cooling systems, etc;

- Supervision of the technicians who produce the working drawings and final verification of these drawings, may also be called upon to produce these drawings;

- Development of specifications and technical procedures for the manufacture of equipment;

- Technical coordination between the other disciplines involved in the design;

- Interface with the client for all technical issues and questions;

- Responsible for monitoring the progress of the engineering work according to the established schedule and budget

- Technical assistance for procurement, fabrication and site installation of equipment;

- Participation in design reviews with the client;

- Participation in the preparation of bids;

- Responsible for all technical aspects of the projects in front of the respective clients and consulting engineers;

- Development, maintenance and control of design standards and application of norms, methods and practices;

 

YOUR PROFILE

- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec;

- Minimum 5 years experience in the design of mechanical auxiliary systems, ideally related to hydroelectric power generation

- Practical experience in technical project management;

- Ability to work with minimal supervision and a high degree of autonomy;

- Communication skills, both oral and written (English and French);

- Ability to write technical documents (English and French);

- Available for occasional travel to the US and Canada (approximately 30% of time);
