Summary – The Continuous Improvement Manager is responsible for Quality and Operations Excellence (Lean Manufacturing) functions listed below in the VPAW location.


Responsibilities –

  • Quality:
    • Root-cause-analysis of quality topics to identify and implement sustainable corrective measures (continuous improvement process)
    • Assist on customer complaints, root cause investigation and follow up of corrective actions
    • Monthly KPI analysis and tracking of corrective actions
    • Supplier Qualification Management: coordinating and performing supplier audits and inspections
    • Consultation of departments in all relevant quality issues
    • Quality system monitoring and performing of internal audits
    • Technical and disciplinary lead of quality staff members
    • Implementation of the global Voith Paper Quality initiatives
    • Alignment with global functions and other regions
  • Operations Excellence:
    • Promote lean and continuous improvement culture throughout the facility
    • Define plans for implementation of lean tools (5s, Kaizen, Shop visual management, etc.)
    • Coordinate continuous improvement workshops and projects
    • Monthly KPI analysis, and tracking of corrective actions
    • Coordinate OPEX audits
    • Internal and external benchmarking of best practices
    • Alignment with global functions and other regions

Qualifications –

  • Industrial Engineering or related field Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Detail and results oriented, strong teamwork- and organizational skills, self-motivated and capable of working independently and multi-task
  • Basic knowledge of Quality systems (e.g. ISO 9001)
  • Desired experience and qualifications in welding technology (e.g. IWE or CWI) and non-destructive testing methods (e.g. VT/PT min. level 2)
  • Knowledge and experience applying Lean tools, capable of teaching and coaching other team members
  • Excellent written and oral communication and documentation skills, computer skills for word processing, database, presentation, basic statistical analysis, spreadsheets
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, across different levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work in a fast-pace, multi-cultural environment.  There is regular interaction with peers in other regions. Also, there are various regional mandates and guidelines that must be followed.


Physical Demands –

  • While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand for an extended amount of time, walk and reach with hands and arms. Able to lift and move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
