Summary

The dynamic and visionary Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) and Operational Excellence Manager will lead our safety, environmental, and performance improvement initiatives. They will drive our journey toward zero accidents by reshaping our safety culture and implementing cutting-edge safety protocols. Additionally, they will leverage automation to enhance operational efficiency, foster continuous improvement, and enhance the competitiveness of our manufacturing site.

 

Responsibilities:

Safety Leadership

  • Develop and implement comprehensive Behavioral Safety Program aligned with organizational goals
  • Create and maintain robust safety management systems
  • Conduct advanced risk assessments and proactively identify hazards. In the event of an incident or accident, design interventions that address the root causes of unsafe behaviors.
  • Design and execute safety training programs with a focus on behavioral safety
  • Implement leading and lagging safety performance indicators
  • Establish a non-punitive reporting culture that encourages transparency

Operational Excellence

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives across operational departments
  • Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for operational efficiency
  • Implement lean management principles and Six Sigma methodologies
  • Facilitate cross-functional improvement teams and problem-solving workshops
  • Benchmark best practices and drive organizational learning
  • Enhance the competitiveness of our manufacturing site including delivering year-over-year productivity gains

Automation and Technology Integration

  • Identify and implement opportunities for safety and operational process automation
  • Implement digital tools and technologies for:
    • Real-time safety monitoring
    • Predictive risk analytics
    • Automated reporting and compliance tracking
  • Develop digital dashboards for operational and safety performance
  • Integrate IoT and AI technologies to enhance safety and efficiency

Compliance and Regulatory Management

  • Ensure compliance with local, national, and international HSE regulations
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging safety standards and technologies
  • Prepare comprehensive compliance reports
  • Manage external audits and regulatory inspections
  • Develop and update HSE policy and procedure documentation

Environmental Stewardship

  • Implement environmental management systems
  • Develop and track sustainability metrics
  • Reduce organizational environmental footprint
  • Support green technology and sustainable practice initiatives
  • Conduct environmental impact assessments

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Safety Engineering, Environmental Science, Process Engineer,  or related field
  • Advanced degree or professional certification (Master of Business Administration (MBA), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH) preferred
  • 5+ years of progressive HSE and operational excellence experience
  • Proven track record of building an appropriate safety culture and implementing safety innovations
  • Strong understanding of industry-specific safety regulations

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in safety management software
  • Advanced data analytics capabilities
  • Experience with lean tolls and automation technologies
  • Knowledge of AI and machine learning applications in HSE
  • Advanced Microsoft Office and business intelligence tools
